He was a star designer in the 1960s and possibly the most famous decorator of his day. Hicks designed the pattern below, called the Vase, for Clarence House. The pattern has remained a prominent one for Clarence House in many colors in both wallpaper and fabric. Here it is used on a living room sofa.
