Each piece of a bed layer serves a purpose. The duvet cover protects your comforter, a blanket is used either on its own or as an extra layer on cool days, and a coverlet is a perfect layering piece. Quality sheets are important because they are the innermost layer. An Interior Designer can help you create a beautiful and comfortable bedroom.
Creativity, form and function, nature, geometry, color and curves and luxury reign.

One of the most recognized objects of the last century, and an icon of the modern movement, the Barcelona Chair exudes a simple elegance that epitomizes Mies van der Rohe’s most famous maxim–“less is more.” Each Barcelona piece is a tribute to the marriage of modern design and exceptional craftsmanship.
This chair was designed to furnish the German Pavilion at the International Exhibition in Barcelona, where it would serve as seating worthy of the King and Queen of Spain. Not only is comfortable, but it is also good looking. It is available from Knoll in several colors. Other furniture manufacturers are offering a modified version of this chair. If you want to keep up with what’s hot in fabric, here’s what’s happening. Popular colors include blush, green, and brown. Boho Patchwork, Nomadic Designs, Traditional Designs in updated colors are the patterns we are seeing. Upholstery textures are nubby, boucle, slub, and soft. In addition, performance fabrics that are sustainable, cleanable, and fade resistant (Indoor/Outdoor and Crypton) are everywhere. The use of trim such as tape, pom-poms, and metallics is picking up.

What is a media sofa? A media sofa is a large deep sofa that you can lounge on. Basically, there is no need or an ottoman because the sofa is so deep that there is no need for an ottoman. The sofa is about the size of a Queen bed. We like the Michell Gold + Bob Williams Keaton Media Sofa. The track arm and squareness makes it perfect for transitional design. The Franco is a bit more contemporary with the two cushion back instead of three. It’s arm is angled and more of a 1970s feel. Regardless, both sofas are fabulous looking and comfortable.
The Keaton Collection of sofas and sectionals, a sleek and stylish media sofa with a timeless, tailored look that features welting and nailhead trim. An expansive seat cushion, along with box-edged back pillows, offer plush comfort and exceptional support. Lounge long with one or many. Any design can be made in any shape and any material, simply find your style look. Mitchell Gold +Bob Williams offer a nice range of fabrics, including Sunbrella (R) Indoor Outdoor Fabrics which are extremely durable. We also offer custom from reputable local furniture makers and can help you select any fabric, including the new Crypton fabrics which are the most durable and comfortable indoor residential fabrics.
At MM Interiors Inc. we are encouraging our clients to chose a performance fabric for furniture upholstery. Back in the day, outdoor fabrics were limited to solids and prints such as awning stripes, clearly designed for outdoor use. Now the selection in quality indoor/outdoor (Sunbrella (R) and others) and Crypton are fabulous. We just used Pindler Sunbrella Baylor Fabric for interior upholstery. It’s hard to believe how plush an indoor/outdoor fabric can feel. Thibaut Designs was early in the offering of high quality Cryptons for residential use. Most of the high end design houses offer their own Sunbrella (R) patterns and the choices are endless now. This makes our job as Interior Designers easy to speck a performance fabric for your upholstery. So if you have children, grandchildren, dogs, cats, or just like to eat dinner on your sofa you do not need to worry anymore!

INTRODUCING DURALEE DESIGNER: JOHN ROBSHAW BAY SHORE, NEW YORK – Romanticized by the allure of India and Asia, John Robshaw has captured the aesthetic of traditional artisans and translated it for the updated Western world through his textiles. Blending cultures and techniques, Robshaw has created his own signature look of sophisticated exoticism with designs that are new and fresh, and yet retain their sense of handmade tradition. For the first time, John has ventured into woven designs in addition to his signature prints, and Duralee is pleased to team with him to bring his worldly vision to their customers in this 4-book collection of coordinated fabrics. Separated into distinct color families, John Robshaw for Duralee reflects the colors of nature with a touch of the saturated tones of the East. Like the juxtaposition of stone and foliage, Charcoal/Moss Green combines the popular grey neutral with an accent of lively green. The search for natural indigo dye for his paintings led Robshaw to India, so it is only natural that this deep blue is a featured shade of his collection with Indigo/Turquoise. Stolen from spice markets and saris, the colors of Madder/Coral are a vibrant range from rich red to fuchsia. Anchoring the collection with shades of tan to chocolate brown, Umber/Khaki pays homage to desert sands, thatched roofs and teak forests. Of his products, Robshaw states, “by making textiles, I get to become a minor character in the lives of the people I work with, and I can take inspiration from what I see and do there. I go to their weddings, celebrate their festivals, I get sick with them, drink tea with them, and develop relationships with the people who are teaching me. When you look at my textiles, I want you to feel like you’ve been on the world tour along with me.” DURALEE®, dedicated to providing the building blocks to design, is headquartered in Bay Shore, NY, with furniture showroom nationwide and throughout the world.
