Artist Johannes Itten and Color Theory

Johannes Itten was a Swiss born artist known for Painting, Drawing, Color Theory and Architecture.  His most notable work is entitled Farbkreis which was painted in 1961.  Notice the color wheel ring and the geometric center with color schemes.  MONOCHROMATIC color schemes use lighter and darker shades of just one color.  COMPLEMENTARY colors are opposite each other on the color wheel.  ANALOGOUS colors are next to one another on the color wheel.  TRIADIC is a combination of any three colors which are equally spaced on the color wheel.
