Bedroom window treatment for a rental apartment is very important.
First, you need privacy and darkness and second, you want it to look pretty. If you owned the home I would recommend Flat Roman Blinds. However, the labor can be expensive and it is not likely that you will be able to re-use the blinds due to the variation in window sizes.
If you want to be able to re-use your custom window treatments, I recommend simple flat panels from the top of the window — or ceiling — to the floor.
Make sure to line the panels with blackout lining so the sun does not wake you up early on the weekend. The blackout lining is heavy and will help the panels lay well and protect the fabric from the sun.
For this job, I also purchased ready made sheer linen panels, a double brass rod, and brass rings (my NYC client is waiting for the building super to install the new rod so that she can hang the sheers for daytime light filtering).
Enjoy sleeping in and feel good that you can reuse your beautiful store bought designer bedding and custom window treatment in your next rental apartment or home!

Now is the time to think about freshening up a room or more for spring.
It’s a major project to remove wallpaper in order to paint or re-paper. The walls often get damaged, so there are many steps to getting the walls ready for paint. Here is a great idea as an alternative:
If the wallpaper is intact, try priming the walls right on top of the wallpaper instead of enduring the dreaded steaming and removing of wallpaper.
Make sure to purchase a high quality primer and paint with stain blocker. Also, paint on only a thin coat of primer so that you do not wrinkle the wallpaper.
The most time consuming part is the prep work, so make sure you take your time with the painters’ tape. After the walls are primed, you can paint or hang new wallpaper.
If you need any assistance with chosing a color palette, please let me know!

If you want to give a quick modern update to a traditional powder room, purchase some modern accessories.
In this powder room with traditional wallpaper, mirror, and sink, I added a lucite soap dispenser and cup. Lucite is a type of plastic used for all sorts of household things. It’s a fun choice for the bathroom and comes in a variety of shapes and colors to match any space. It’s also durable, easy to clean, and inexpensive.
Make sure you use a high-quality accessory in order to get the zip you need.

If you are limited in space and on a budget, I believe that you only need a head board and bench for a practical, functional, and beautiful bedroom.
This is a king size bed on a wall that is limited in size, yet this setup still functions perfectly.
The lack of bed frame allows enough room for night tables and bench. The tables have a top drawer and open shelf that provide storage as well as room for a land-line phone and table lamps.
The swing-arm lamps are great for light without taking up more space. The bench is great for sitting comfortably while dressing or putting on shoes.
How to Get the Look
Mount swing-arm lamps to the wall if you don’t have enough room for night tables. You can change the bedding easily for the season to freshen up your look without clutter.
